Terms of Use
Last updated:
These terms govern your use of www.keyboard-trainer.com. They are short because the service is simple: a free typing tutor that you can use without giving us anything.
Agreement
By using the site you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please stop using the site. There is nothing to cancel and no account to close, so leaving is immediate and complete.
What the service is
Keyboard Trainer provides typing practice across six progressive levels, a virtual on-screen keyboard, and a timed speed test that reports words per minute and accuracy.
It is an educational aid, not a certification. The words-per-minute and accuracy figures it reports are calculated by our own scripts using the common convention that one word equals five characters. They are useful for tracking your own improvement over time, but they are not an accredited assessment and should not be presented to an employer as one.
Cost and availability
The service is free. There is no paid tier, no trial that expires, and no feature held back behind a payment.
We make no promise that the site will be available without interruption. It may go offline for maintenance, because of a hosting failure, or permanently. We may add, change, or withdraw features at any time without notice.
Acceptable use
Use the site for typing practice. Do not attempt to disrupt it, overload it, break into it, or probe it for vulnerabilities.
Do not scrape the site systematically, deploy automated typing scripts against it, or republish its practice texts and lesson material as your own.
Do not use the site in any way that breaks the law where you live.
Your data
Your progress, best scores, and test history are stored in your browser's local storage and never on our servers, as described in our privacy policy.
One consequence deserves emphasis: we cannot restore your progress. We have no copy of it. If you clear your browser data, switch browsers, use private browsing, or replace your device, that history is gone and nobody can recover it. Treat it as a convenience, not as a permanent record.
Intellectual property
The design, code, lesson structure, and written material on this site belong to their author and are protected by copyright.
You are welcome to use the site for learning, at home, in a classroom, or at work, and to link to it freely. You may not copy the site's content in order to publish a competing version of it.
No warranty
The site is provided as is and as available, without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the practice texts are free of errors or that the speed measurements are precise.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the site, including lost progress, lost time, or any decision taken on the basis of a score reported here.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and if you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
Health
Sustained typing can contribute to repetitive strain injury. Take regular breaks, sit at a workstation set up for you, and stop if you feel pain in your hands, wrists, or forearms.
This site offers typing tuition, not medical advice. If discomfort persists, consult a qualified professional.
Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms, and the date at the top of the page will show when we last did. Continuing to use the site after a revision means you accept the revised terms.
